computer donations

Project T.E.C.H. is actively seeking and redistributing donated computer equipment. You may have a complete computer system or just parts (due to upgrades) that we could use or redistribute to the community. We need equipment that is in good working order and meets the following specifications:

PC Systems
• Pentium II (less desirable)
• Pentium III or higher (or comparable chips)
If Windows OS, please provide media with CD Key*

*What is a CD Key?
A CD Key is the alphanumeric code that is either on the CD Case or the Program Manual that came with the program or Operating System. When donating a computer, program, or Operating System, the recipient needs the CD Key as proof of ownership. It is also required if we need to install or reinstall the software onto a computer.

• Non-Windows OS (Linux, etc.) is okay
• Any amount of memory; we can supplement it
• Includes working CD-ROM Drive and sound card (else we may strip machine for parts)
• Other add-ons okay (network cards, modems, etc.)

Apple/Macintosh Systems
• Mac G3s or later

Monitors
• 17" or higher preferred (smaller monitors donated w/computer okay;
otherwise,
• No loose monitors smaller than 17")

Distributed Equipment
Organizations: We occasionally, on request, donate computer systems to local community organizations.

Individuals: There are many individuals who need a computer at home so they can practice the skills they learn at our sites, help their children with schoolwork, type letters to businesses, improve their computer skills to get a better job, and for many other reasons. Computers with modems or network cards will allow them to get on the Internet, but even older computers that have a word processing program can let them practice so they can come to one of our organizations to send a resume or application letter through the Internet.
