Mid-City Virtual Learning Network

Foundation for Successful Solutions (FSS) has been selected by the California Virtual Campus Community-Based Online Learning (CBOL) Project, as one of seven organizations to provide distance learning opportunities for low-income high school youth and adults throughout California. FSS serves youth and adults in Mid-City Los Angeles and surrounding communities

FSS, in collaboration with West Los Angeles College, will provide formal and informal virtual learning opportunities, such as videoconferencing and training content to support workforce development needs. Programs targeted toward youth will include access to California Accelerated Pathways, access to online English and language arts education, and virtual field trips. For adults, the programs will include hybrid weekend college courses, online tutoring, and access to online learning materials.

Each community-based organization (CBO) selected is providing educational services in partnership with local California Community Colleges (CCC), University of California (UC), California State University (CSU), or a combination of institutions.

The CBO, college, and university collaboration will be supported through the California Virtual Campus (CVC), which will provide high speed Internet connection and programmatic support in partnership with the Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC) and the California Research and Education Network (CalREN).
